The Detroit Zoological Park officially opened to the public, eighty-four years ago today, on August 1st, 1928.

Bittersweet post today, as I loved going to the zoo as a child but after reading the Chimp Trainer’s Daughter’s blog post about treatment of chimps at the Detroit Zoo, I feel a bit down.  A must read for animal lovers.
